Wireless Troubleshooting
* Below you will find advanced
troubleshooting steps for wireless networking in Windows. Following
these settings may result in a loss of connectivity to other networks your
laptop may be setup for*
Step 1 - Check your TCP/IP Settings
In order to connect to the ResNet wireless,
you must have Windows configured to receive an IP address automatically.
To do so, follow the steps below:
Click
on Start-Control Panel, then double click Network Connections (you may have to
choose Network Connections a second time to arrive at the screen below).
Find your Wireless Network Connection, Right Click on it one time,
and make sure it is set to Enabled. Click Properties

In the Propeties section of the network
interface, find the option "Internet Protocol" (you may have to scroll down in
the white box) Once you found it, highlight it, and click Properties
Make sure in the screen above that both "Obtain
Automatically" options are checked.
If your laptop has "Use the following IP
address" checked AND has numbers listed for IP, Subent and Gateway already, it may be setup to connect
to another network (home, school, Starbucks, etc.) already. Changing this
setting may make you unable to connect elsewhere.

Click
OK twice
to exit the Network Connection Properties. Go back to
this page to start your connection setup
again.
