MAC OS X Setup for "Scots" Wireless

 Network Access

SETUP

 Step 1:

Click on the MAC wireless icon in the upper right hand portion of the screen.  Make sure it reads "Airport On"

You should "Scots" listed as a network choice.  This is the MC open wireless system, and the one you need to connect to.  You may see other wireless system names, but these are not college owned, and not the ones you need to use.

After click on "Scots" your MAC OS should connect automatically to our network.  Attempt to open a web page using Mozilla or Safari, and you should be redirected to the MC Network Log-In Page. If you do not connect automatically, please follow the steps below:

Step 2:

Open your network settings by clicking on the Apple icon in the upper left hand portion of the screen, choosing System Preferences, then select Network.  You should see the screen below.  Select Airport, then click Configure

Step 3:

Clicking Configure on the above screen should take you to a menu like the one below.  Click on TCP/IP, make sure that Configure IPvX is set to Using DHCP.  If an IP address does not appear, or if you get one beginning with 169, please click the Renew DHCP Lease button.

If these instructions do not fix your problem connecting to the wireless network, check this page for more help, or feel free to contact us directly
