MAC Address Identification

for non-traditional network devices

In order to connect non-traditional devices(devices other than laptops and desktops) to the Maryville College residential hall or wireless network, users must provide the MAC address of the network device. Below are instructions for may popular devices. If your device isn't listed, please refer to your manufacturer for help. One you have found your devices MAC address, please submit a help ticket by clicking "CONTACT" at the top of the page.

All devices MUST be set to DHCP in order to connect to the residential network at MC. If you are unsure how to do this, please refer to the manufacturer of your device.

Sony Playstation 2:

1. Power up the PlayStation 2 and load the Network Adapter Startup Disc 2. Once it has loaded, Press X to enter the ISP SETUP 3. The ISP SETUP will begin to load 4. Once the setup process has loaded press X to continue 5. Your PlayStation will search for the network adapter 6. After the network adapter has been found, press X to continue 7. Press X again to continue 8. Wait while the data is accessed 9. Select NEW and then press X to continue 10. Type a name for you ISP setting. This can be any name you would like to associate with this connection. 11. When asked is you currently subscribe to an ISP service, select YES and press X to continue 12. For connection type, choose HIGH SPEED CONNECTION (CABLE OR DSL) and press X to continue 13. Select AUTOMATIC SETTINGS and press X to continue 14. When asked if you ISP requires a User ID and Password, select NO and press X to continue 15. When asked if your Internet Service Provider requires you to input a DHCP Host Name, select NO, Unplug your Ethernet cord from the PS2*, and press X to continue (Unplugging your Ethernet cord from the PS2 will cause the test to fail, you want this to happen so you can get the PS2 to display your MAC address.) 16. Wait while your network connection is tested 17. The network connection test will fail. Do not press X or Triangle. Press Select to see the error message 18. The Network Adapter MAC address will be displayed. Please write the address down 19. Make a Web Support Request to submit the MAC address you just wrote down to the IT department. Please make sure to include your name/number/dorm room. When we receive your MAC address we'll enter it into our systemt, and we will contact you and let you know you can connect your PS2 to the network. 20. To test the connection, you will need to restart the ISP SETUP program. Perform steps 1 through 16 above. 21. Once the network connection test is successful press X to save the configuration to the memory card 22. The network configuration will now be saved to the memory card. Do not remove the network card while this information is being saved. 23. Your PlayStation should now be configured to connect to the Internet and you should now be able to start playing online, press X to return to the main menu. 24. To test out your connection you can choose DEMOS and press X to continue 25. From there follow the instructions on screen to play an online game demo. Nintendo Wii

*There are known issues with Wii wireless internet connections. Connection may or may not work depending on signal interference between your Wii and the Wireless Access Point. Click here to read about them on Nintendo's website*

From the Wii Channel menu, select "Wii Settings" (the round button on the bottom-left of the screen with "Wii" on it).
Select "Internet," then "Console Settings."
The MAC address of the Wii console is displayed on the first line.

XBOX 360

From the Home screen, tap Prefs.
Under Communication, tap Wi-Fi.
At the bottom of the Wi-Fi Preferences screen, tap Info.
You'll find the MAC address of the device listed on the third line of the screen. The format is XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
